This photograph of Ray Mead Cottage, Mr. and Mrs. Ricardo’s home in Maidenhead, shows Charlotte Ricardo in a dark dress, Albert sitting on a chair, and two unidentified men in what looks like cricket gear, one standing beside the porch and the other lying on the ground. Although the house was called a “cottage”, it was in fact a large villa which accommodated the Ricardo family, a governess and seven servants in the 1871 census.
